Submission Types
The way we learn one thing isn't necessarily the same way we should learn another. UXPA's conferences include several different formats to maximize attendees' learning and help hold their attention.
Poster
Posters are a way to present research results, new ideas or concepts in an informal, visual and interactive manner. It's often helpful for submitters to include an image depicting the planned layout of the poster. There is no official template for posters, so be creative and find the best way to tell your own story. Selected poster presenters will be responsible for printing their own posters. (Psssst. While everyone is welcome to submit posters, they are a particularly great gateway presentation format for students!) |
Tutorial
Tutorials are formally prepared sessions at which instructors teach conference participants specific usability or design skills. Session sizes range from 10 to 100 participants. One-third to one-half of each session must involve audience participation. Tutorial submissions may be for half-day or full-day sessions. Tutorial facilitators are entitled to an honorarium, either in the form of direct payment ($1,000 for full day and $500 for half day) or greater conference registration discounts (TBD). |
Workshop
UXPA workshops provide an active arena for advancements in the field of usability and design. Workshops are 3-hour, hands-on sessions that provide the opportunity for experienced practitioners to learn more and develop new ideas about a topic of common interest and experience. Workshop facilitators choose attendees from a pool of hopeful attendees, via a means (position paper, application, etc.) determined by that facilitator. |
(Of note for 2014 - Peer-reviewed Papers are no longer being included in the conference program. Anyone with a submission suitable to that category is encouraged to submit it to UXPA's Journal of Usability Studies.)
